Located in the eastern suburbs of Sydney, the area is well-known as a food and nightlife hotspot and has changed considerably throughout the years according to Peter Taylor, who is the director of Ray White Taylor and Partners.
“Surry Hills in the last 10 or so years has become extremely popular with families. I’ve worked in the area for 20 years and the marketplace is very, very different to what it used to be. It used to be very grungy…everyone would come to Surry Hills for interesting record stores and fashion – now, it’s still cool, but cool with a bit of money.”
He said that the clientele of renters he finds homes for is very diverse.
“We rent to people in their 20s who are coming to Sydney for the first time to go to university or for their first job and we rent to people who are downsizing who have come from the lower north shore – it’s very diverse.”
